Oakland Mills Park, Virden Area

DETOUR

The Virden Area of Oakland Mills Park is the home of the nine-hole Riverview Disc Golf Course. Spenser Burden, as an Eagle Scout, worked with the Conservation Department staff to help construct the disc golf course.

Location

The Virden Area of Oakland Mills Park is located four miles south of Mt. Pleasant, just off Oakland Mills Road.

Features

This disc golf course is on rolling hills and the manicured fairways, lined with native grasses. Some fairways are lined with trees that make a beautiful course that sits along the Skunk River. According to the original course designer and avid disc golfer, Bill Dowell, the Riverview Disc Golf Course at Oakland Mills is the 100th PDGA registered course in the state of Iowa. This course is free for all to play. All you need is a disc, which you may purchase at local retailers. The course is open year-round, so plan a picnic and stay the day!

When you're finished disc golfing, and horseshoe pits, provides a new challenge.

An enclosed shelter house is available. A $30.00 reservation fee does apply. For more information contact the conservation office at (319) 986-5067.
