Once in a Blue Supermoon Eclipse!

Wickiup Hill Learning Center, Linn County

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

The morning of January 31 will present early risers with a unique experience.   On this date will be the second full moon of the month – the blue moon.  The moon will appear as a super moon – being the closest in its rotation to earth and a lunar eclipse. It’s an astronomical trifecta!  (We will see the beginning of the eclipse, but probably not the full event as the moon disappears below the horizon before that time).   We will hike or snowshoe to a viewable spot to watch the western sky at Wickiup Hill.  Following the viewing time, we will return to the center and warm up with some hot chocolate or coffee and a light breakfast.  Call 319-892-6485 to registration. Registration deadline is January 29.  Depending on the temperature, we may opt to view this from inside the center.  Cost is $2.50/adult, $1/child16 and under or $5/family.
