The property will be named in memory of its previous owner and steward, and will be managed as a nature preserve, open for hiking and other nature appreciation activities. Botanists have identified 225 plant species, including some that are uncommon and rare in the state of Iowa. The Malinda Reif Reilly Fen and Prairie is situated on the Iowa Erosion Surface landform region and includes a classic Paha ridge, formed from wind deposited sand and silts.
