Registering for an Event

How do I create an account on mycountyparks?

How to create an account on MyCountyParks for online registration:

  1.  Type in www.mycountyparks.com into your browser and hit “enter” on your keyboard.
  2. Once the page loads, click on “Log In" in the upper right hand corner.
  3. Click on "Create an Account".
  4. The registration form will load.  Fill this out completely.  Your password must contain at least one upper case letter, one lower case letter, and one number.  It does not tell you this until you click submit and an error message pops up.  You can click on the button to make your billing information be identical to your personal information.  I would also suggest selecting “Story County” so you are directed to our events.  Once complete, click “Create Account”.
  5.  Once your account is created, MyCountyParks will generate an email to activate your account.  If you have an error (typically password did not have the necessary characters or username is not valid) correct the necessary information and then click “Create Account” again.
  6. Log into your personal email account that you used to create your account.  You will have an email from MyCountyParks.
  7. Click on the link they provided. 
  8.  Click on “My Homepage”.
  9. You are now set to explore the site, register for events, and soon reserve lodges and the multi-purpose room.  The Facility Reservations and Event Registrations tabs will show any current items you are signed up for.  The Order History will track all of your reservations and registrations over time, as well as have the receipts from payments. 
  10. To register for an Event or Camp, click on the “Events” tab to search for upcoming programs.  Please note this list will include ALL of the counties in Iowa.  In order to see what is happening in just Story County, use the drop down list and select “Story” and then click “Filter”.  You may also want to broaden the dates to look for programs further out.

How do I register for an event?

1.  Welcome to MyCountyParks.  If you already have an account, you will need to log in.  If you do not already have an account, and need assistance, please view “How to create an account on MyCountyParks”.   

2.  Once you are logged in, you can find Events several ways, however, this way is the most direct:  Click on "Counties" at the top of the homepage, select "Story County", and then click on "Events" to see a listing of upcoming events. 

3.  Find the program in the list of events.  I would suggest expanding the ending date to include future programs.

4.  Click on the program you want to register for. A window with the information for that program will open.  In the top right hand corner click on “Register Online”.

5.  Put in the number of adults and the number of children you would like to attend the program and then click “Add to Cart”.  

6.  The next window will give you the option to "Continue Shopping" if you'd like to register for other events, or "Check Out" if you are finished.  There is also an option to "Remove Item" if you have decided not to register.  

7.  Review your order and add attendees.  It is very important that you add the attendee’s name(s) in the Optional section so we know who will be attending.  There will be a place under each Event title to add each person that is attending that specific event. After you type in the first and last name, use the drop down menu to select if it is a child/adult, and click “Add”.  When you have added your name it will then appear in the name box below. If you are registering more than one person you will have repeat this process for each person. Once all of the attendees are listed, click on the “Next Step” button.

8.  Verify your billing information is correct.  Verify all the items that you wanted to register for are in your cart.  If you are a Partners Member, enter your promotion code in the box and click “Apply” to receive your discount. Enter in the credit card information for the credit card you are using to pay.  In the Special Needs/Accommodations/Comments box please enter in any special requests, medical issues that we need to be aware of, dietary concerns, or accommodation needs (i.e. – vegetarian, diabetic, allergic to peanuts, etc.)  It is now time to click “Submit Order”.  If the screen doesn't display an authorization code, you may have an error which displays in the upper left corner by the word PURCHASE. Correct all errors and make sure all boxes are completed before clicking on the Submit Purchase button again.

9.  Your “Order Receipt” will automatically generate.  You may print this for your records.  It will also be stored in your MyCountyParks account under your Order History. 

10.  To exit from this page simply click “mycountyparks” and it will take you back to the homepage. From your homepage, you can click on profile to view your registration, order history, or facility rentals.  You can also click on “Logout” and complete your session.
