Sac County Conservation is located in west-central Iowa and is home to Hagge Park along the North Raccoon River. We manage 3 larger parks and many wildlife areas, with hiking trails and water recreation accesses approximately 907 acres across the county. Many recreational opportunities await you at these areas, ranging from biking the scenic Sauk Rail Trail, to walking the wooded trails of Hagge Park, hunting at Whitetail Woods or canoeing the North Raccoon River. There is plenty of opportunity for camping, birdwatching, fishing, hiking and more!

Activities in Sac County

In addition to managing these areas, the SCCB has a strong environmental education program designed to increase awareness and enjoyment of the county’s natural resources. The environmental education program is active throughout the county and makes presentations to schools, civic groups, various types of organizations and clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts and to the general public year round. Summer camps, winter day camps, Knee High Naturalist and Conservation Field Day are just a few examples of the many opportunities for children and adults to learn about our natural resources.
