Guthrie County, located in west-central Iowa, is rich in natural resources and diverse in recreational areas giving everyone an opportunity to enjoy our beautiful county, located just 45 minutes from our State's capital - Des Moines, Iowa.  

The mission of the Guthrie County Conservation Board is to acquire, develop, maintain, and make available to the inhabitants of the county, public parks, preserves, parkways, recreational centers, county forests, wildlife, public museums, and other conservation areas, to promote and preserve the health and general welfare of the people, to encourage orderly development and conservation of natural resources, and to cultivate good citizenship by providing adequate programs of public recreation and conservation education.

We welcome and invite you to enjoy our conservation and recreation areas encompassing over 1,010 acres in Guthrie County. Discover original prairies, flowing rivers, scenic roadways, historic towns, and miles and miles of trails. We manage 13 individual parks, prairie remnants, wildlife areas, historic sites, and a portion of the Raccoon River Valley Trail, and offer a variety of recreational opportunities including camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, biking, bird watching, picnicking, and much more. Whether you stay for an hour, a day, or a lifetime, there truly is something for everyone to discover in Guthrie County.  We hope you enjoy your visit.

Guthrie County Conservation Board meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM at the GCCB office at 206 W. South Street, Panora, Iowa, and is open to the public.
