Welcome to Sac County!
Sac County Conservation is located in west-central Iowa and is home to Hagge Park along the North Raccoon River. We manage 3 larger parks and many wildlife areas, with hiking trails and water recreation accesses approximately 907 acres across the county. Many recreational opportunities await you at these areas, ranging from biking the scenic Sauk Rail Trail, to walking the wooded trails of Hagge Park, hunting at Whitetail Woods or canoeing the North Raccoon River. There is plenty of opportunity for camping, birdwatching, fishing, hiking and more!
7/2024: A small section of the Sauk Rail Trail in Sac County will be closed after the July 4th, 2024 weekend. The part of the trail that currently sits atop the DNR Black Hawk Marsh dike will be removed starting on Monday, July 8th. The concrete trail is being removed to allow the DNR to repair and rebuild the dike later this year. This portion of the Sauk Rail Trail will be closed until a new concrete trail can be constructed next year. For any questions please contact the Sac County Conservation Board office at Hagge Park.
