Welcome to the Taylor County Conservation Board! Taylor County is located in the southwest corner of Iowa along the Missouri border. Taylor County is 70 miles north of St. Joseph, 100 miles south east of Omaha/Council Bluffs, 120 miles south west from Des Moines. The Taylor County Conservation invites you for an ideal weekend trip at one of our three camping lakes or a hike in our two wildlife areas! Windmill Lake, Wilson Lake, Sands Timber Recreation Lake, French Preserve, and Siam Tract. The Taylor County Conservation Board’s mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance our natural resources by providing opportunities to improve the public’s quality of life through environmental education, wildlife management, and outdoor recreation.
Taylor County Conservation manages two hunting properties including: Siam Tract and Sands Timber Recreation Lake.
