In 1973, the Dallas County Conservation Board purchased 24.57 acres from the estate of George and Myrtle Trindle for the development of a public park. A beautiful property, Trindle Park overlooks the city of Van Meter and provides a view over the scenic Raccoon River floodplain.The park features mature oak and hickory trees, a playground, mowed grassy areas, picnic shelters and modern restrooms

There are two open shelters that can be rented for a small fee. No deposit is required.

Located in the southeast corner of Van Meter. Take exit 113 off I-80. Go south on County Road R16. Follow R16 south along the east edge of Van Meter (bear left at the "T" intersection) and watch for the junction with Richland Circle. Turn right on Richland Circle. The entrance to the park will be on the right.

Operating Hours & Seasons

May 1 - October 31
Park gate and facilities are open from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Shelters are open for reservations.
Restrooms are open.

November and April
Park gate is open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.
No reservations accepted for the shelters.
Restrooms are closed.


Closures

The entry gate will remain closed December through March.
