Spring Wildflower Hike
APR 02 2026 5:00 PM
Event Summary
Get ready to explore the wild side! Join us on Thursday, April 2nd, from 5:00–6:30 PM for a guided Wildflower Hike at Big Hollow Recreation Area. We’ll meet at the campground playground before heading out on an adventure to discover the edible (and not-so-edible!) plants growing all around us. During this hands-on hike, you’ll learn how to safely identify common spring wildflowers, common wild edibles, hear fun facts about their uses, and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world right at your feet. Whether you're a curious beginner or just love being outdoors, this program is a great way to connect with nature in a whole new way. This is a free event. No registration is required, but it is highly encouraged. Register here. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. Come ready to walk, learn, and maybe even see your surroundings a little differently! Please dress for the weather. For event updates or cancellations, visit the Starr’s Cave Nature Center Facebook page or call (319) 753-5808.
