Discover Wolf Creek Recreation Area in Beaman

This 93-acre forested recreation area makes a great place for picnicking, camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting for small game and waterfowl (as long as non-toxic shot is used). Bowhunting for deer is available with a permit through Grundy County Conservation. Facilities include a shelter house, running water, picnic tables, and a restroom. The trails in the park lead to the larger Comet Trail, which connects Beaman, Conrad, and the park itself before reaching its end outside of Gladbrook. The shelter house may be rented for a 5-hour period for $20 through contacting Grundy County Conservation at least 72 hours before the desired date. 

The campground includes primitive sites and 20 other sites with electrical hookups up to 50 amps. A shower house and dump station are available for registered campers. Registration is “first come, first served” (no reservations) and camping envelopes and payment instructions are present on the campground. Camping fees are $20 a night for up to 14 days for sites with electrical hookups. For primitive sites with no electricity, the camping fee is $10 a night for up to 14 days. Non-profit youth groups may camp for free in the primitive camping area. Firewood is also available for purchase at the park. The campground is closed during the winter months.
