South Raccoon River Water Trail Access - Route B

Nations Bridge Park offers a variety of ‚Äčrecreational opportunities to the public and is a favorite spot for many.  The park has a total of 81 acres that can be used for camping, picnicking, kayaking, hiking, bird watching fishing, disc golf, and horse shoes. Wildlife is abundant at Nations Bridge Park. Deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, quail, raccoons, coyotes, and a variety of songbirds can be seen at the park. Nature trails can be found throughout the park and a self-guided nature trail is located on the east side of the park, County Highway P28.

The South Raccoon River, which is the 1st point of access on the South Raccoon River Water Trail - Route B, also provides quality catfishing. A favorite spot for fishing is the old swimming hole just below the shower building.  Please note that swimming is not allowed in the river.

Nations Bridge Park features primitive camping, RV-camping with 45 electrical hook-ups, modern showers, water, flushing bathrooms, a dump station, two shelter houses, hiking trails, interpretive trail, playground, disc golf course, horseshoe pit, grills and picnic tables, a canoe access, and excellent fishing.

  • Camping costs are $15.00 per night for electric sites, $10.00 per night for non-electric sites.
  • Camping sites are first come-first served, no reservations accepted.Camping site is considered occupied when camping unit is on site and registration envelope filled out and paid for.
  • Shelter houses can be reserved for $15.00 for the day or first come-first served, if not reserved.  Contact the GCCB to make a reservation:  641.755.3061.

Basic GCCB Park Rules

  • Parks open at 6:00 a.m.
  • Parks close at 10:30 p.m.
  • Park in designated areas.
  • Fires, Wastes - use containers provided.
  • Keep pets on leash.
  • Do not pick any wildflowers.
  • All State and Federal Laws apply to county areas.
  • Speed limit is 15 m.p.h.
  • Hunting in designated areas only.
  • Keg Beer—Permit required.
