Willow Lake Nature Center at the Willow Lake Recreation Area
The new Willow Lake Nature Center is open to the public with regular hours Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm; Sundays in January 12th and 19th, February 2nd and 23rd, and March 16th and 23rd 12-4 pm. Closed for holidays January 1st and 20th and February 17th.
Conservation Education
Harrison County Conservation Board provides conservation education programs for all ages. The goals of conservation education is to ensure that people of all ages understand, appreciate, and care about our natural world by:
- Understand-to gain a basic understanding of ecological principles
- Appreciate-to develop an appreciation of local natural resources
- Care-to foster a lifetime connection with nature in order to make environmentally responsible choices
The Naturalist visits schools in the county and provides a wide range of programs to support curriculum and provide hands-on learning. Field trips to the Willow Lake Nature Center are also offered. Public programs are offered throughout the year with special events including Creepy Campground in the fall.
