Willow Lake Nature Center at the Willow Lake Recreation Area
Construction of the NEW Willow Lake Nature Center began in the fall of 2021 and it is expected to open in the spring of 2023. The nature center will feature interactive exhibits about water, watersheds, wildlife and habitats!
Conservation Education
Harrison County Conservation Board provides conservation education programs for all ages. The goals of conservation education is to ensure that people of all ages understand, appreciate, and care about our natural world by:
- Understand-to gain a basic understanding of ecological principles
- Appreciate-to develop an appreciation of local natural resources
- Care-to foster a lifetime connection with nature in order to make environmentally responsible choices
The Naturalist visits schools in the county every month and provides a wide range of programs to support curriculum and provide hands-on learning. Field trips to the Willow Lake Recreation Area are also offered. Public programs are offered throughout the year with special events including Creepy Campground in the fall.
