Cabinet of Curiosities: Nature Journals
AUG 22 2026 2:00 PM
Event Summary
The beauty of nature journaling and art is that it knows no age. You can rekindle that wonder and curiosity about the world around you on Saturday, August 22 from 2:00-3:30 PM at the Hurstville Interpretive Center.
Take notes on plants you haven't encountered before or pause and appreciate the ones you already love. For us perfectionists, it allows us to slow down and appreciate the little things.
After a short hike to sketch on handmade watercolor journals, we will return to the Center to finish our pieces. We will paint with watercolor and finish details with fineliner pens. Materials used are yours to keep and continue your explorations.
Jess Wagner, of Hurstville Interpretive Center, will be accompanying our hike and help to teach general characteristics that help with identification. We will also provide references for you to keep and further your studies.
Forrest Grey, owner of Ash Vale Art, will be leading the class and helping others admire and wonder about the natural world. Forrest has been easily distracted by nature since childhood and believes art is for everyone.
Cost is $15 per person. Registration is required by August 20. Register online at https://3common.com/naturejournal
