Woodworking for Wildlife

MAR 20 2026 5:00 PM

Jefferson County Park , Jefferson County

Event Summary

March is when many of Iowa's wildlife species begin to wake up from their winter slumbers. Birds return, skunks emerge, and frogs and toads begin to sing their spring songs. During this program, we will be constructing a small toad cottage that can be set out among your garden or landscaping to provide a cool shelter during hot summer days as well as foraging opportunities.

All materials will be provided. Parts for each nesting platform will be pre-cut and labelled for ease of construction. After, participants are welcome to take their creation home, or leave at the park to be set out for wildlife viewing opportunities in our county areas.
