Event Summary

Have fun close to home this Spring Break, and spend some family time building a shelter and primitive campfire in the woods. In this program, we'll start indoors learning about the purposes of shelters, and get an intro to fire building with ferro rod strikers. Most of the program will be spent outdoors, with families getting to construct a woodland shelter together using sticks and leaves. Families can also construct campfires in fire pans and practice their skills with ferro rods, starting the fire with sparks alone. (As a secret for the kids, we'll have some marshmallows ready to roast on the fires - shh, don't tell!) Building forts in the woods is a fun rite of passage for childhood, and is sure to be remembered for a long time.

We take photos during our public events. If you do not wish to be in any photos, please send an advance email to the contact listed.
