Golden Acorn Hunt

Event Summary

Something golden is hiding in our parks… and you’re invited to find it! This June and July, we’re launching a new summer series — the Golden Acorn Hunt!

Each month, one park will be home to the hidden golden acorn. We’ll release weekly clues on this event page and social media, to help you narrow down its secret location. Find it, snap a photo, and submit it by emailing the photo to Conservation@LinnCountyIowa.gov to be entered into a prize basket drawing!

Clue #1: In this park, brave people may climb to the top for a beautiful view & a river with a lengthy name, flows through.

Find the golden acorn (don't move it), snap a photo of the acorn at the location, and send it to Conservation@LinnCountyIowa.gov now through July 31 to be entered in the month's prize basket drawing. We'll contact the winner in early August.
