FIRST TUESDAY BIRDING HIKE SERIES – (Wanatee Park - plan C!) – Marion

Event Summary

*** NOTE - changed from Sac and Fox Trail which was damaged by recent heavy rains to the Prairie Park Fishery and NOW changed to Wanatee County Park as the Fishery has been closed for cleanup!)

Note - the trail is soggy so wear your mud boots - just in case!

Join us for what we believe will be the second in a fun series meant to pull birders together from the Linn County Area and beyond. Location for this session will be at the Wanatee County Park, 1600 Banner Drive, Marion - near the junction of Hwy. 13 and 100 - gathering in the parking lot at Red Cedar Lodge. This session will be led by Jane Nesmith and Kathryn Deetz.   Expect to view Belted Kingfishers and a variety of other stream associated bird life.  We are planning for a monthly series of hikes to provide some comradery for birders from beginners on up.

We are planning for a monthly series of hikes to provide some comradery for birders from beginners on up.  The walks are being sponsored Iowa Ornithologists Union, Cedar Rapids Audubon Society, and Linn County Conservation Dept. as the current sponsors for this group.  We hope you can join us, please register in advance if you can, free.  Registration limited to keep group size manageable.  Dress appropriately for the weather, hiking boots seem best and drab colors to prevent scaring the birds.  Bring binoculars if you are able or join us regardless and we may have a few pairs to share.

Future HIke:

November 3 at Red Cedar Lodge at Wanatee Park - 1700 Big Bluestem Dr., Marion
