Securing the Promise: Iowa’s Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund

Event Summary

What if Iowa could make lasting investments in clean water, wildlife habitat, and outdoor recreation for generations to come?

Join us at Wickiup Hill Learning Center on October 27 for Securing the Promise: Iowa’s Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund, an engaging presentation by Dan Cohen on the future of conservation in Iowa. In 2010, Iowa voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment creating the Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund (I WiLL). Sixteen years later, the fund remains unfunded. So, what happened—and what would it mean for Iowa if that promise were fulfilled?

Dan will explore the fund’s history, its potential to strengthen conservation and outdoor recreation across the state, and what it will take to move it forward. A longtime conservation leader, outdoor writer, and advocate for clean water and wildlife, Dan brings a firsthand perspective to this important conversation.

Tuesday, October 27, Doors open at 6:00 PM | Program begins at 6:30 PM Wickiup Hill Learning Center, Linn County Conservation

Free and open to the public.

Come learn, ask questions, and join the conversation about Iowa’s natural resources and the legacy we want to leave for future generations. We’d love to see you there—and feel free to share this invitation with others who care about Iowa’s outdoors.
