Camp on the shore of the Odessa Wildlife Management Complex at Louisa County's most popular campground. Many campers are blessed by beautiful sunrises and sunsets, often dotted by migrating waterfowl or pelicans riding a lazy thermal.

Location

Located along the Great River Road (County Road X61) in Louisa County, this area is only 3-miles from the city of Wapello, Iowa. Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge is just a couple miles North of the entrance to the park, also on the Great River Road. There is a rather winding and steep, gravel road from the paved road on top of the bluff, to the campsites at the bottom, right on the shore of the beautiful Odessa Complex.

Features

  • 31 electric campsites; one tent only site (although tents are allowed on any site)
  • Restrooms (pit toilet)
  • Electricity (20/30/50 amp)
  • Picnic tables & fire rings
  • Water (April 15 - Oct 15)
  • Rates: $17/night
  • Boating (motor allowed) - although they must put in at either Schaffer's Access or Sand Run Access
  • Paddling - the Odessa Water Trail is a great place for canoes and kayaks and you can launch right at Snively
