Marion County Conservation has implemented changes to reduce the potential spread of the Coronavirus.

1. Effective today all Marion County Conservation Department parks will be closed to the general public through April 17th.

2. Parks that will be closed are Marion County Park on the west edge of Knoxville and Roberts Creek Park and Cordova Park located on the north side of Lake Red Rock.

3. Facilities closed include: all campgrounds, shelter houses, picnic areas, game courts, baseball & softball fields,     playgrounds, as well as the Observation Tower and Pavilion at Cordova Park and the Historical Village at Marion County Park.

4. No reservations for park facilities, to be used prior to April 17th will be taken.

5. All current reservations for park facilities through April 17th are cancelled and full refunds will be given. This includes reservations for campsites, shelter houses, the pavilion and cabins. Park Rangers are in the process of contacting these individuals to notify them of the cancellations and issue full refunds.

6. Reservations for facilities to be used after April 17th can still be made at this time. Either on-line, or by phone.

7. The current schedule is for all Marion County Conservation Department parks and facilities to re-open to the public on Friday, April 17th.

Marion County Conservation is confident that these decisions are in the best interest of public and staff safety. These measures are in effort to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 through our community.  Thank you for your support and understanding. Marion County Conservation will continue to assess the situation and adjust as necessary. If you have questions, please contact the Conservation Administrative Office by calling; 641-828-2213.

This park is an 1100 acre area situated on bluffs overlooking Lake Red Rock. The name Cordova is derived from the small town that occupied this location from 1887-1962. The park has seven modern cabins available for rent year round, all with a great view of Lake Red Rock. For a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area, climb the 169 steps to the top of the park’s 106’ observation tower, the tower charges $.50/person and requires quarters. Change is not available on-site. On a clear day, landmarks 35 miles away may be viewed with the naked eye. Home to abundant wildlife, modern cabins and the observation tower; Cordova Park is considered a year round travel destination.

ATTENTION: We are anticipating the construction of an extension to the current paved Volksweg trail during the 2019 and 2020 calendar year. It will connect the current trailhead near Robert's Creek and the main entrance to Cordova Park. During times of construction we anticipate times of heavy equipment and construction workers between Widgeon, Mallard, and Pintail cabins and the lake. Hopefully these times will be very limited. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Cordova Park office.

ATTENTION: Beginning January 1st, 2019, a cabin, campsite or shelter house that is reserved, will have a Non-Refundable $4.00 Processing fee added to each facility in a shopping cart. The Processing Fee will automatically be added at the time of "Checkout". Due to more counties adding facilities to reserve online and the higher volume of transactions on, the Iowa Association of County Conservation Boards; which, administers the website through a web host company, is instituting this Processing Fee. The fee will go towards continuing updates and maintenance so that will continue to meet the needs of those wishing to reserve county facilities.
