Discover Wilcox Wildlife Area in Knoxville

Wilcox Wildlife Area is a 470 acre public hunting and fishing management area. County Highway T17 passes through the management area, 300 acres lay on the west side of the highway and 170 acres encompass the east side of the highway. The management area is a reclaimed coal strip mine site, consisting of 75% mixed grasses, 20% hardwoods and 5% conifers making up the remainder of the land cover. Deer, Turkey, Pheasants, Quail, Doves, Waterfowl, Rabbits and Squirrels as well as several other fur bearing animals utilize the Wilcox Wildlife Area. Several small ponds are dispersed throughout the area, 6 of the water bodies, ranging in size from 2 acres to 7 acres, support a fishery of Bass, Bluegill and Catfish.
