Monarch Tagging

Event Summary

Join us for a monarch tagging event! Tagging monarchs is a way to keep track of butterflies as they migrate thousands of miles from as far north as Canada all the way to the oyamel fir forests of central Mexico. Tagging data helps scientists learn more about the timing and pace of monarch migration and inform monarch conservation efforts. At this event, participants will have the opportunity to capture, tag, and release wild monarchs as a part of Monarch Watch's 35th tagging season!

OCCB recommends that participants wear/bring closed-toed shoes, long pants, sunscreen, and a water bottle. See naturalist upon arrival for instructions and tagging supplies.
