Discover Pierce Creek Recreation Area in Essex

Pierce Creek Recreation Area was bought in 1979 by the conservation board. It is the largest park owned by the county coming in at approximately 361 acres.  It has 2 campgrounds, approximately 7 miles of multi-use trails,  approximately 62 acres of public hunting, a 30 acre lake with great fishing, and a boat ramp.

2 campground each with electric/water sites and primitive sites. One is located on the north side of the park and the other on the west side of the park that is for equestrian users. The equestrian area also has a obstacle course available. A boat ramp for access to the 30 acre lake. A public gun range. Approximately 7 miles of multi-use trails. 3 reservable open shelters. Public hunting is located across the road from the main park with a variety of hunting opportunities.
