Writing Naturally

Oak Grove & Big Sioux Park, Sioux County

Saturday, September 22, 2018

How does a campfire, coffee and a guided hike sound. If this gets your creative juices flowing for putting your pen to paper, then this program is for you! Join the Sioux County Naturalists, and Novelist James Schaap, at Oak Grove Park on Saturday, Sept 22 from 9am-noon. Naturalists will interpret the natural world around you, and James Schaap will give you tips to turn what you see into art.

We’ll mosey along the trails, occasionally stopping to write. Listen to the story of the park, and the voices of nature itself, then channel Thoreau or John Muir or Annie Dillard. Creatures galore, stories without end—inspiration in the woods and the tall grass.

Bring a notebook, a water bottle, a coffee mug, and what creativity you can jam in your jean pockets. Meet at the tent sites in Deer Run Campground.

This program is geared to adults, but young authors are welcome.
