REAP Assembly for Region 11

Event Summary

This program will take place at the ISU Research Park Economic Development Core Facility located at 1805 Collaboration Place in Ames. 

Are you interested in improving natural and cultural resources for the direct benefit of central Iowa?  Join us to share ideas for how Iowa’s premier funding program for natural and cultural resources can assist your community. 

The Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) program has funded nearly $430 million in projects for water quality improvements, habitat protection, roadside prairies, historical development, park and trail development, and conservation education since it was established in 1989. 

Every two years, Iowans gather for Regional Assemblies to direct the future of our state’s natural and cultural resources.  This year’s Assembly is putting local voices and proven projects that have transformed our communities and improved quality of life at the center of the conversation. Learn about REAP, connect with like-minded citizens, and voice how REAP can better serve your community.

4 – 6 PM – Browse a showcase of tangible examples of how REAP funds have been used in Boone and Story Counties in recent years.   Enjoy refreshments. Add your ideas to the Citizen Idea Wall to inform your county’s 5-year REAP Plan – What does our region need next?  

4:45 PM – Overview of REAP Program from Michelle Wilson, REAP Coordinator for Iowa Department of Natural Resources.  

5:15 PM - Review REAP expenditures and recommend changes to state policy.  Elect five delegates to carry these ideas to REAP Congress at State Capitol in August.
