Discover Osheim Prairie & Slough Preserve in Story City

This 35-acre property includes reconstructed prairie, oxbow wetlands, oak savanna, and riparian forest. With approximately 1 mile of mowed trails, visitors can walk, hike, bird watch, or enjoy other passive forms of recreation. This property is a wildlife refuge. No hunting or trapping is allowed.

History: The property was purchased on contract in 2019 with the assistance of Partners memberships from Rosemary Osheim and became open to the public in 2022. Rosemary invested her loving care into the property. She nurtured its many prairie and wetland plants as well as its forest and nature trails.
