Wicks Wildlife Area


Wicks Wildlife Area boasts 55 acres of timber along the South Skunk River north of Story City. This property offers opportunities for hiking, bird watching, public hunting (archery only), exploration of the floodplain and old river oxbows, and other passive outdoor recreation. No trails are maintained in this wildlife area. 

Wicks Wildlife Area will remain an undeveloped wildlife area. The protection of this property was made possible through public and private partnerships including the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and a grant through REAP.
