Nieman Wildlife Area

Set along the Winnebago River and adjacent to the Winnebago River Trail, this area is comprised of natural wetlands, prairies, oak, and willow woodlands. It was purchased with habitat stamp money, along with money donated by Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. This area is popular with waterfowl, deer, and turkey hunters.

Located 3/4 miles west of Forest City on A42, 1 mile North

There are gates at the access to get back into the Nieman Wildlife Area. These gates are typically closed in the spring time and throughout the summer until the hunting seasons start. Even though the gates are closed, this area is still open to the public! Just follow the gravel road from the gate headed East, and you will find a parking lot and the entrance to the wildlife area.
