Description
The Job will be helping to manage and maintain all wildlife areas and parks in the county. Will also help plant wildlife habitat on private lands as needed. Will assist other employees with equipment maintenance and construction work or perform other tasks as assigned by the Director or Maintenance Supervisor of the conservation board. The workweek is non-typical, but generally 40 hours per week, occasionally up to 60 to 70 hours per week as needed.
Qualifications: Applicant should have some shop skills and be able to use a variety of hand tools and power equipment. Must be able to get and maintain a CDL and a pesticide applicators license. Field experience is helpful but not required.
Requirements: Self-motivator with the ability to effectively apply knowledge and common sense to solve problems and /or achieve work objectives. Ability to routinely stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, balance, climb and operate power/hand tools; ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and be exposed to dust, fumes, and loud noises; physically able to use required personnel protective equipment (PPE); ability to routinely lift 75 lbs.; to follow written and oral instructions; possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must obtain and maintain a CDL (commercial drives license) and an Iowa Pesticide Applicators License.
Wages: $50,000-$51,500 per year. This position will full time. Full benefits include; IPERS, vacation time, sick leave, comp time, and county holidays. There is a one year probationary period and the employee may be dismissed without cause at any time during that year.
