 What You'll Do

Natural Resource Management & Operations

  • Assist with park maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Perform trail maintenance, grounds maintenance, habitat management, forestry activities, and conservation projects.
  • Operate and maintain equipment used in conservation and maintenance activities.
  • Support habitat restoration and natural resource management initiatives.
  • Assist with maintenance of conservation facilities, infrastructure, and recreational areas.

Environmental Education & Interpretation

  • Conduct educational programs for schools, community groups, youth organizations, and the public.
  • Assist with summer camps, workshops, field trips, and special events.
  • Deliver interpretive programs focused on wildlife, habitats, conservation, and outdoor recreation.
  • Collaborate with the Environmental Education Program Coordinator on educational programming and outreach.

Educational Wildlife Care

  • Provide daily care for educational wildlife ambassadors, including raptors, foxes, snakes, reptiles, and other educational animals.
  • Maintain feeding schedules, records, permits, and enclosure cleanliness.
  • Assist with educational programs utilizing live animal ambassadors.
  • Monitor and support animal health and welfare.

Community Engagement

  • Represent Henry County Conservation at community events and public programs.
  • Assist with volunteer activities and stewardship projects.
  • Promote conservation awareness and outdoor recreation opportunities throughout Henry County.

Environmental Education Team

The Conservation Technician/Naturalist and Environmental Education Program Coordinator serve as Henry County Conservation's Environmental Education Team.

Together, they:

  • Deliver environmental education programs throughout Henry County.
  • Conduct camps, workshops, field trips, and nature hikes.
  • Promote conservation awareness and outdoor recreation.
  • Utilize educational wildlife ambassadors in programming.
  • Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and volunteers.
  • Support educational interpretation at Oakland Mills Nature Center and other conservation properties.
  • Advance the mission of Henry County Conservation through collaborative outreach and stewardship initiatives.
