Position Description
The Henry County Conservation Department is seeking a Seasonal Conservation Aide to assist with the maintenance and stewardship of county parks, trails, and recreational areas. This is a temporary, seasonal position lasting no more than six (6) months), with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week.
The Seasonal Conservation Aide plays an important role in maintaining safe, clean, and enjoyable outdoor spaces for the public. Work is performed primarily outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning and maintaining parks and campgrounds (restrooms, campsites, fire rings, cabins, etc.)
- Mowing with tractor and brush mower; string trimming
- Trail maintenance, including clearing brush and downed limbs or trees
- Assisting maintenance staff with construction, repair, and improvement of park facilities
- Performing basic equipment maintenance, including oil changes and equipment detailing
- Assisting with prescribed burns and wildlife habitat restoration or planting projects
- Other related duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Be insurable under the county’s insurance policy
- Successfully pass a background check
- Be able to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions
- Be able to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have reliable transportation to and from the primary worksite daily
Work Schedule
Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required based on operational needs.
