Park Ranger - *$5,000 Bonus for Certified Officers

***This position will be located at Scott County Park in Eldridge, IA. Starting salary for this position will be between $25.32/hr and $27.95/hr depending on experience. Certified Officers are eligible for a $5,000 hiring bonus that is paid out as follows: $2,500 after 90 days, $1500 after one year and $1,000 after two years.***

·         Opens and closes park. Maintains regular park patrol schedule year round. Enforces Code of Iowa and Conservation Board rules, which includes educating the public, issuing citations and/or arrests, and maintaining a safe environment for all park users. Assists and works in conjunction with local law enforcement and emergency medical service agencies.

·         Serves in a public relations capacity providing service and information to the general public as requested. May be on call 24 hours a day for emergency situations.

·         Supervises seasonal employees and oversees camper registration and reservations year round. Troubleshoots problems/errors associated with registrations, reservations, and recreational software. Responsible for accounting and depositing of all revenues collected. Performs inspections of rental facilities to ensure compliance with cleanup and deposit guidelines.

·         Responsible for providing input in the areas of natural resources and recreational management in an effort to blend park usage with conservation practices. Performs specialized natural resource projects such as; prescribed fire burns, timber stand improvement, wildlife habitat improvement, fishery habitat, reforestation, prairie rehabilitation, wetland restoration, enhancing nature trails, conducting erosion studies, hazardous material handling, pesticide applications

·         Works with maintenance staff to perform all necessary facility and grounds maintenance including but not limited to; carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, mechanical and finishing work on remodel or building projects; installation and repair of all park playgrounds and signage; light welding fabrication and repairs, mowing, cutting brush, hauling gravel and garbage, snow removal and maintenance of all sidewalks, roadways, and/or trails. Performs routine forestry tasks such as pruning, thinning, planting and spraying.

·         Inspects grounds, facilities, and playgrounds to coordinate scheduled maintenance, repairs and replacement. Responsible for repairing and/or reporting safety problems or hazardous situations to maintenance staff for immediate attention.
