What You'll Do
Environmental Education & Outreach
- Coordinate school field trips and classroom education programs.
- Coordinate homeschool programming and related educational opportunities.
- Plan and organize summer camps, public workshops, nature hikes, and special events.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, community organizations, civic groups, and partner agencies.
- Promote environmental stewardship and conservation awareness throughout Henry County.
Program Leadership
- Develop annual education program schedules and outreach initiatives.
- Track participation data and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Assist with grant applications, reporting, and program funding opportunities.
- Maintain educational supplies, equipment, and resources.
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and recognition.
Wildlife & Conservation Stewardship
- Assist with care and management of educational wildlife ambassadors, including raptors, foxes, snakes, reptiles, and other approved educational animals.
- Participate in wildlife presentations and interpretive programming.
- Assist with habitat restoration projects, trail improvements, invasive species management, native plantings, and conservation initiatives.
- Support maintenance and improvement projects at Oakland Mills Nature Center and County Conservation properties.
- Work collaboratively with the Operations Supervisor and Conservation Technician/Naturalist on stewardship and maintenance activities.
Communications & Community Engagement
- Manage social media platforms and educational outreach efforts.
- Develop newsletters, promotional materials, website content, and public communications.
- Promote departmental programs, services, and events.
- Represent Henry County Conservation at community events, meetings, and public functions.
Environmental Education Team
The Environmental Education Program Coordinator and Conservation Technician/Naturalist serve as Henry County Conservation's Environmental Education Team.
Together, they:
- Deliver environmental education programs throughout Henry County.
- Conduct camps, workshops, field trips, and nature hikes.
- Promote conservation awareness and outdoor recreation.
- Utilize educational wildlife ambassadors in programming.
- Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and volunteers.
- Support educational interpretation at Oakland Mills Nature Center and other conservation properties.
- Advance the mission of Henry County Conservation through collaborative outreach and stewardship initiatives.
