Title: Naturalist Intern

Moorehead Park, Ida Grove, IA and Crawford Creek Recreation Area, Battle Creek,
IA
Job Description: Serves under general supervision of the Naturalist.
- Assists in planning, developing, coordinating,
and presenting environmental education programs for schools, youth nature camps, and
the general public under the supervision and guidance of the Naturalist.
- Develops related written, audiovisual, and
display materials such as scavenger hunts and social media posts.
- Carries out general maintenance tasks at the
Conservation Center including animal care, aquarium and exhibit care, and
cleaning grounds and other work as assigned.
Benefits:
Workmen’s comp. insurance.
Hours: The intern will work 20 hours/week for 10 weeks. The
schedule will include occasional weekends and non-standard hours. Starting June 1st
through August 6th.

Typical physical demands: Requires full range of body
motion, manual and finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and depth
perception. Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing steps, stooping,
kneeling, crouching, and operating a motor vehicle on a regular basis within
any given work day. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
Requires working irregular and long hours. There will be exposure to animals
(such as rodents, insects, snakes, turtles, fish, etc.), and other adverse
environmental conditions. May require operation of a motor vehicle before,
during, or after adverse weather conditions have occurred. Reasonable

the essential functions.

Qualifications
Interest in these or related fields: outdoor recreation, biology, environmental education, or early childhood education. Good public relations. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be 17 to apply.
