Description
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Maintains departmental records and files.
2. Assists with long and short-range plans and goals and major and minor development projects impacting DCCB facilities and properties. 3. Be detail oriented and accurate when working with documents and information.
4. Operates medium duty trucks, tractors, mowers, chainsaws and other maintenance equipment.
5. Performs light maintenance of all county equipment and vehicles.
6. Performs routine or assigned maintenance of park areas and facilities, such as mowing, cleaning restrooms and shelters, removing debris, repair of trails, roads, tables, buildings, signs and boundary fences.
7. Perform routine and follow up well water sampling.
8. Assist with construction and improvement projects.
9. Directs daily; staff assignments in park maintenance work including equipment, buildings, grounds and park infrastructure.
10. Supervises the training of seasonal workers, community service workers and volunteers.
11. Participates in work assignments as needed. Such as parks and trail maintenance/development and registration of campers.
12. Informs the general public, citizen support groups, other officials, private agencies and organizations about park facilities and department rules and regulations.
13. Inspects facilities and premises to ensure that such areas are maintained in safe and attractive manner and assists in enforcing park rules and regulations. Report any issues with facilities, park grounds or equipment to the Executive Director.
14. Assist in maintaining live wildlife exhibits.
15. Occasionally assist and perform minor environmental/conservation education duties.
16. The workweek is non-typical, but generally 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, may include weekends or evening hours as needed to complete the job. Attend work regularly at designated place and time.
Qualifications
High school graduate and preferably a degree from an accredited junior college or vocational college in the field of parks, landscape design or natural resources. OR Combination of education and two (2) years’ work experience.
