Description
This is a law enforcement position under the general direction of the Executive Director.
Duties to include, but not limited to, monitoring Lake Cornelia Park and the nearby areas on a weekend/weeknight/holiday rotation including on-call time during the active camping season. Lake Cornelia Park has 106 campsites and a large day-use area where the ranger is expected to patrol and handle a multitude of issues including enforcing laws and regulations. This position will be expected to perform repairs and maintenance as problems arise. General habitat reconstruction, maintenance, and enhancement on Wright County’s approximately 2600 acres of wildlife areas and parks. Other duties as assigned by the director.
Requirements:
Required to live in Wright County.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Must pass a background check.
Must complete the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy within 1 year.
Prior to interview, the applicant must pass the entry requirements for the academy including the fitness standards and post test.
Desired certifications and knowledge:
General knowledge of tools including hand tools and power tools.
Experience running large equipment including tractors and skid steers.
Pesticide applicators license (or within 1 year of hire)
S-130, S-190 Wildland fire certifications (or within 1 year of hire).
Hunter’s Safety Instructor Certification (or within 1 year of hire).
Class A CDL.

Qualifications
2 year degree or higher in related field including ecology or law enforcement. Preference given to applicants with experience in habitat management or certified law enforcement officers.
