Description
This position plans, schedules, coordinates, and monitors maintenance,
and repair, safety checks for all facilities and equipment under the Conservation
Board. This includes: vehicles, tractors, skid loader, mini excavator,
attachments, small engines, pumps, fire equipment, power tools, and all building
facilities.
Education:
Minimum
education requirement of High School diploma or equivalent, with minimum of 3
years of mechanical, maintenance, or technical experience and/or Associate’s Degree
in outdoor recreation, parks management, natural resources or other applicable
field.
Required Licenses, Registrations,
Certifications:

Must
possess a valid Iowa Driver’s License
- Pre-employment
physical, including drug testing
- Certified
Pesticide Applicator’s License 1A, 5, and 6 (or able to obtain within 1
year of hire)
- Class
A Commercial Driver’s License (or able to obtain within 1 year of hire)
-
Wildland
Fire Training in S-130, S-190 (or able to obtain within 1 year of hire)
ESSENTIAL
JOB DUTIES
-
Maintains,
repairs, and keeps records on all small and large machinery, equipment, and
tools.
Performs
routine maintenance on all equipment and machinery, including checking and
changing
oil, filters,
lights, fluids, brakes, hoses, belts, plugs, and other items as needed.

Is
responsible for keeping the nature center and all buildings of the Conservation
Board safe and functionable. This includes checking and
replacing lightbulbs, filters, electrical and plumbing devices, and all routine maintenance activities.

Participates
in maintenance, construction, and development activities of the department.

Performs
repairs or replaces parts on damaged or worn out equipment, tools, and
facilities to keep
department
operating safely and smoothly.

Implements
Lock-out-Tag out policy on broken or dysfunctional items until they can be
repaired or replaced.

Helps
plan, schedule, and implement repair and replacement schedules for all equipment,
tools, and facilities.
The
position will be generally Tuesday through Friday -- 7 a.m. - 5 p.m and will
include evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
This position will involve
constant activity such as walking, lifting and carrying. Work setting is
both indoor shop work and outdoors that includes areas like campgrounds, timber
areas, prairies, and trails.
This position is a full time position and is FLSA non-exempt. County
