Bearbower Sand Prairie - Prairie Walk

Event Summary

Buchanan County has many unique remnant prairies spread throughout its park system. These range from dry sand prairies to water saturated fens. Join Conservation Director Ben Bonar and a representative from the Iowa Native Plant Society in exploring Bearbower Sand Prairie and learn how to identify prairie plants along the way!  Participants can expect to see numerous prairie plants in bloom during this walk including Plains Frostweed, Lead Plant and Pasture Rose. A short presentation will also be provided on current restoration work taking place at the site.
