Discover Licklider Shooting Complex in Cherokee

This county-owned property has a long history of being managed by a local conservation & environmental education-oriented group known as the Little Sioux Wildlife Association. The management of the property was transferred to the Cherokee County Conservation Board in 2023 and named the Licklider Shooting Complex.

This 50-acre property currently consists of a trap field area, an archery area, and a rifle/pistol range.

- Crossbow area (Up to 50 yds)
- Stationary target area (6 targets, 10 yds apart up to 60 yds)
- 3-D trail (0.2 mi; 14 targets)
  - Please be aware: this trail has steep terrain

Future improvements will come in the form of new shooting tables, new roof on the 100 yd shooting shelter, development & installation of a 50 yd shooting shelter, updated electrical in the buildings, and a rentable three season day-use facility.

Household permits are $40/year (2 adults and all children under 18 that reside at the same household) and will cover both the gun range and the archery range.

Daily permits are $5/day per shooter and will cover both the gun range and the archery range.

We also have a Student Permit for kids under 18! (Someone over the age of 18 will need to accompany them)
