Hidden in the Turkey River valley, the Motor Mill Historic Site is a peaceful natural area that features a six-story limestone flouring grist mill and four related stone buildings dating from the late 1860’s. Motor Mill is a historic site on the National Register of historic places and a Silo's and Smokestacks partner site.
Motor Mill park also offers primitive camping, canoe access on the Turkey River, trails for hiking and horseback riders, and bow hunting.


Motor Mill is located about 7 miles east of Elkader, Iowa along the Turkey River. 


 A six story limestone mill, cooperage, ice house, inn and stable made of limestone quarried nearby are present. The total site covers 155 acres and has two trails. Tours are available on Saturdays Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend from 12-5 pm.
Primitive camping is available for $15.00 per night, there are 5 campsites, on a first come first serve basis if not already reserved. Online reservations can be made 3 days in advance by clicking here.
