Discover Happy Acres in Rockford

Happy Acres is a 40-acre public hunting area located southeast of Rockford on 230th Street. The long, narrow property features restored native prairie, rows of shrubs, woodland, and valuable edge habitat that provide food and cover for deer, wild turkeys, upland game birds, songbirds, and other wildlife.

Prairie plants such as gray-headed coneflower, partridge pea, goldenrod, big bluestem, and Indiangrass provide changing colors and habitat throughout the seasons. An improved parking area offers convenient access for hunters pursuing upland game, turkey, and deer during designated seasons.
