Exploring Regenerative Agriculture
FEB 17 2026 6:00 PM
Event Summary
Regenerative agriculture is a farming approach that restores soil health, enhances biodiversity, and improves ecosystem services. Learn more about how to implement various methods on your land while still making a profit at an Exploring Regenerative Agriculture program on Tuesday, February 17 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Hurstville Interpretive Center, Maquoketa.
Farmer Monte Bottens, of Bottens Family Farm, will speak about how they implement regenerative agriculture methods into their farming practices while maintaining profitability. Bottens Family Farm practices long term no till, cover crops, and has integrated livestock on 2,800-acres (using virtual fence collars!). He grows non-GMO and food grade corn and soybeans along with small grains, specialty crops, hay, and grazing crops. They own and operate Grateful Graze, a direct to consumer, pasture-raised beef, chicken, and pork business. In addition to Bottens Family Farm operations, Monte is the host of the AgEmerge Podcast.
Bailey Klein, with Iowa’s Pheasants Forever, will talk about their new free program for landowners, Precision Ag and Conservation Solutions. Discover how yield maps, soil layers, and ROI analyses can guide smarter, data-driven decisions that improve farm profitability while increasing conservation impact.
Information will be shared about the USDA’s Regenerative Ag cost share program.
This program is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by USDA NRCS, Limestone Bluff RC&D, and Jackson County Conservation.
