Fire Building & Fire Starters

Event Summary

Having outdoor skills like knowing how to build a fire is important when you spend a lot of time outside. Learn basic fire safety tips and then have fun building a fire at a program on Friday, July 3 from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Hurstville Interpretive Center.  

This event has two parts. Come to one or both.

From 9:30-10:00, make and take your own fire starters using recycled and natural materials.

From 10:00-11:00 learn about different types of fires, different fire-starting materials, and then build your own. We will roast marshmallows over the fire too! Registration is not required.

Program is free and open to all ages. Family friendly event!

The Hurstville Interpretive Center is located 1 mile north of Maquoketa on Highway 61.
