Volunteer Monarch Tagging Event

Event Summary

We need volunteers to help us catch wild monarch butterflies for tagging! This activity is a great way to support monarch butterfly research. Events are dependent on weather conditions-we may cancel for rainy or cool weather. You can come out at any time during the 2 hour window to help us catch butterflies. The small tags (tiny stickers) label each butterfly with a unique number. Tagged butterflies will journey 2,000 miles to their winter home in Mexico.

This location is great for families and folks of all ages! We will be based around the Conservation Education Center around a gravel packed path that completes a 1/2 mile loop. Updates will be shared via email with all registered participants. We will supply nets for catching butterflies!

Registration automatically closes one day in advance. If you are fully registered, you can expect to receive an email "receipt" from MyCountyParks after registration. You will also receive an email from the leading naturalist a couple days in advance of the program. If you do not receive these emails, you may not be registered; call 319-645-1011 for assistance in this case.**Check your spam or junk mail box if you do not see a reminder email the day before the event**
