Fall Fungi Foray

Event Summary

What do oysters, puffballs, and bird’s nests all have in common? They are all different types of fungi! Fungi are an integral part of the ecosystem, playing an important role in decomposition and nutrient cycling throughout the food web. Found in nearly every corner of the planet, scientists think there could be up to 5 million different species of fungi!

Join us as we stroll through the autumn woods to search for fungi and learn about what we find. The Prairie States Mushroom Club will be joining us to share their expertise. This program is great for folks of all ages, children included! We will be walking on mostly flat terrain of dirt-packed or wood-chipped trails.

Registration automatically closes one day in advance. If you are fully registered, you can expect to receive an email "receipt" from MyCountyParks after registration. You will also receive an email from the leading naturalist a couple days in advance of the program.
