O.W.L.S. - Older Wiser Livelier Seniors - Joe Agan with a Demonstration of Flint Knapping

Event Summary

Flint Knapping is the process of removing flakes from a core of flint or chert to make stone tools.  This demonstration will include methods of removing flakes, types of tools used, both modern and ancient and a brief explanation of the physics involved. This will include a brief demonstration of ground stone tool manufacturing and use (axes and celts).   Free, but you can save a spot by signing up or just show up! 

When we wrap up you may wish to hang around and bring a sack lunch to enjoy with your new acquaintances.  This series is a new adventure for us, we hope it catches on!

These O.W.L.S. programs are scheduled for Baby Boomers and older folks to interact with those of a similar maturity and are meant to keep us engaged mentally and physically in the world around us.  We hope you can join in!
