Nature Adventure Wednesdays: GPS and Geocaching

McFarland Park, Story County

Wednesday, April 28, 2021

Take a break from your screen and go on a field trip with a naturalist! These are our favorite school field trips offered instead for families. While all ages are welcome, please note the suggested grades for each field trip.

Programs will take place outdoors and will be canceled in the event of severe weather. The $5 fee allows up to five youth and one adult chaperone (children must be accompanied by at least one adult), and additional adults do not need to register. If you are bringing more than five kids, please register them as a separate group with their own separate adult chaperone. The $5 fee will be charged to the adult registration only. The fee is required by the Monday before each field trip. Bring a blanket for your group to sit physically distanced; masks are required.

4/28 GPS & Geocaching (designed for grades 4 & up): Understand how to use a GPS to find a location based on latitude and longitude, find a location using new coordinates, and learn the sport of geocaching.

Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of the public and the staff. In response to the ongoing development of COVID-19, Story County Conservation programs will adhere to social distancing, smaller group size, increased sanitation and face coverings mandatory when social distancing is not possible or while indoors. Pre-registration will be required when group size needs to be limited due to the facility or location.
