MAR 18 2026 1:00 PM

McFarland Park , Story County

Event Summary

**This event will take place at the Cambridge Tract, southeast of Cambridge. You will need to register on the INHF website (link included). More information and directions are provided there.

Join us for a collaborative volunteer workday at the Cambridge Tract (read more below) to celebrate Global Recycling Day. With help from Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (INHF), we will remove discarded tires along the South Skunk River so they can be appropriately recycled. While it will be some time before this area is open to the public, lending a hand now will provide a jumpstart on its journey to becoming a public wildlife area. Registration required.

The 247-acre Cambridge Tract property is a key puzzle piece in the corridor of protection along the South Skunk River Greenbelt. The area consists of diverse bottomland timber, oxbow wetlands, river frontage, and restorable lands slated for prairie reconstructions. The area will eventually be open for public hunting and other activities, following the completion of the fundraising.  Read more about the property here.
